Revolutionary reflok pipe connection system wins prestigious ACR award.

Industry commentator and ACR watchdog ACR Today has recognised Reflok's innovative and environmentally friendly connection system with a special award, bestowed with the permission and approval of show organisers ACR News. The award was made last week during the recent ACR show at Birmingham's NEC.

ACR Today's Editor Phil Creaney was given free rein to select whichever product he felt was the most significant development in the industry and he cites three main reasons for his choice of reflok. "The first and main one was because it's a real response to contractor's needs for a light and efficient pipe and connection system, and one which recognises the growing need to be environmentally friendly".

The second was that it gives a contractor a genuinely practical means of F-Gas compliance. "When you’re working at the back of a fridge in cramped surroundings you want something that easily achieves a really leak tight joint," says Creaney. "The last thing you want is to unpack your tools and set about brazing a connection."

And finally, reflok allows the use of aluminium. "It's light and easy to handle on site, but more important, Copper really is running out fast so the cost will continue to rise, plus, it takes a lot more energy to get it out of the ground."

"The industry is a traditional one," adds Creaney, "and most improvements are incremental, but the biggest driver today is legislation, particularly the F-gas regulation regarding leaks and environmental damage. It was entirely my choice but having looked round the show I believe that reflok is a genuinely innovative product which will benefit both the contractor and the industry."

Jon Shipman is congratulated by Phil Creaney, editor of ACR Today magazine.
